Arrived at 5:30 p.m. yesterday after an eight hour run from Byng Inlet. The dogs were very glad to get ashore. They actually used the pee pad for the first time so they must have been desperate. The place is apparently very busy in the summer. But not right now.
We expected an end of season discount but no such luck. We paid full freight and the most expensive price per foot this year. This seemed to be the norm here as a litre of milk was $4 and diesel was $1.59 a litre.
We have been tracking some other loopers on the app Nebo. Chatting back and forth to share information like washroom codes. Marina offices close early at this time of year and if you arrive late there is no one to direct you to a slip and the marina amenities.
Did a walk about the town to stretch our legs while waiting for the weather to settle. The Carousel Lounge in the Killarney Mountain Lodge looks really cozy. A roundish shape with a fire pit in the centre. Next time!
After speaking to the wait staff at the Sportsman, we decided to head to Little Current. They assured us they often made the trip in an open boat so we figured a 40 foot trawler should be able to handle it. The wind was dropping and our route through the Lansdowne Channel was protected for most of the way.
