Moving Day

So we have land transport – at least on paper – while we cruise this summer.

You may recall we left the van in Sault Ste. Marie parked at Roberta Bondar Municipal Marina a 1.5 hour drive from Blind River. Originally, we were going to rent a car to get the van and skip it forward. I had spoken to a local garage who has a few rentals as loaner cars for his clients. He was happy to rent us a vehicle but that was in May and things had changed by July. He let the rental cars go on June 30 as he just wasn’t getting enough business.

Okay not a problem, the back up plan was to hop on a Greyhound. In May, the buses ran everyday from Sudbury to Sault Ste. Marie. I checked. What slipped my attention was that on May 12th Greyhound cancelled all its routes for the duration. What!

The next place we could rent a car was Sudbury which is no where near water we can boat to. Thank goodness for Daryl, the marina manager. He was heading to “the Soo” with a buddy on his day off and would take John along.

Briefly reunited with the Odyssey, we were soon to abandon her again when we head towards Little Current.
