At least that is what one fellow in Queens’ Cove Marina in Georgian Bay called Moon Dance. He was referring to our silver shade cloth.
The shade cloth is Aluminet made by Green.tek industries. I ordered it from Greenhouse Megastore in the US when Maggie and I were doing agility dog trials. It reduces UV by 80% and decreases temperature by 10 degrees. When we stopped doing trials I installed it over my chicken run in the summer. it served there for five years until we sold the place.
It made the transition to boating life with us and has served very well. Keeping part of the boat shaded on those scorching hot days. It also means we can enjoy an evening cocktail without sun screen. The open texture allows any breeze to come through billowing slightly in the breeze. And, best of all, a 10′ x 12″ piece folds up smaller than one cubic foot.
We use suction hooks from Lee Valley Tools to hold it wherever we want as they stick beautifully to the outside of the boat.
