Back to Big Chute today. Loaded the dogs on board, untied the lines and watch John head for the marine carriage. I jumped in the rental and headed towards Midland to return the car. A taxi from Midland to Port Severn dropped me just as John was coming into view. The lock gates were open, John pulled into the lock, I stepped aboard and held the lines while the gates closed behind Moon Dance. Ten minutes later we were out on Georgian Bay with nothing between us and Chicago – except the Canadian winter of course.
Moon Dance was booked to spend the winter in heated storage – up the creek as they say – at Wye River. Our haul out date was the Wednesday, October 6th, but we had to let that go when we couldn’t confirm we would make it there in time. Still we had a slip at Hindson Marina on Penetanguishene Bay for a few days to sort things out.
Whew!
