Boating Season is Over

Back to Penetanguishene right after Thanksgiving to decommission Moon Dance for the winter. Our haul out date is now October 27th but we are concerned about the temperatures so decided to head back and finish the chores.

Two days of cleaning, polishing and removing anything perishable. Leaving nothing to attract creatures over the winter or to give mold a chance to get started. We cleaned the enclosure material and sprayed with waterproofing again.

We were just loading the van to leave for Ottawa, when Amanda from the marina office called. I replied with “Hi, should I wave at you?” She replied, “Are you here? Great we have an opening for a haul out this afternoon.” What a perfect way to finish the season.

We moved Moon Dance to the fuel dock to top up her tanks and empty the holding tank. We had hired a captain to drive her to the storage facility on the 27th when we couldn’t be there. He was available that afternoon so we left our girl sitting at the fuel dock.

Check out the map below. Especially the end near the chequered flag. No only did we not want to drive back to Midland to move the boat. The navigation near the destination is a tad tricky. Hence the delivery captain.
