Moved from Wye Heritage to Bayport Yachting Centre. It is a little closer to the groceries, Canadian Tire and other shopping. We were lucky enough to score a slip right near the laundry as we had accumulated several loads.
Very different vibe here. A lot more people around all willing to discuss their boats, cruising plans and passed trips. Platinum Looper Kurt and Leanne Pennfold aboard Festivus are also slipped here before they begin their summer cruise in Lake Huron and Michigan.
Our next door slip mates were on Innisfree, a Gozzard yacht, hailing from Vancouver. The boat was shipped overland and had just been dropped off by a transport truck. They were putting the boat back together – enclosure, solar panels, rigging, the works. Mike and Glenda are planning on sailing Lake Huron, Erie and Ontario then down the St Lawrence and around Nova Scotia on their way to the Caribbean. We benefited from their re-commissioning as they wanted to offload a 2.5 hp outboard motor and we were looking for one. Perfect!
Another couple and their friends have imported 50 ft sport fishers from Florida to use in Georgian Bay.
