Sister Ships

The last time we were in Michigan we ran across another Moon Dance on Drummond Island. She was going by another name – MoWhiskey, but when we looked carefully, we could see a faint outline of Moon Dance. The gentleman who commissioned our boat, a Mainship 390, also commissioned MoWhisky, a Mainship 430. Selling our boat to move up in size.

MoWhisky’s owners were not around so we didn’t have a chance to talk to them again. John did reach out to the gentleman who originally commissioned both boats. He had lost track of the 390 once it was imported into Canada in 2005.

We had another small world exchange over Moon Dance in Georgian Bay. We were at Wright’s Marina in Byng Inlet. The marina owner walked by one day while I was on the bow. He asked if my husband’s name was Guy. I replied, “No but one of the previous owners was named Guy.” He responded, “I have keys for your boat.” What? Do tell!

It turns out after importing Moon Dance into Canada, Guy moved her almost immediately to Byng Inlet. He would come on his own with just his dog for company, go out on the bay for several weeks to month. Return to port, hand in his keys and head south for another year. Graham remembered the boat as it was there for 8 years or so.
