We were headed to Grafton on our last day on the Illinois river. We monitor channel 16 on the VHF radio (13 if there are barges around) and we saw a tow on the right descending bank and Linda said “hey that’s Capt. Dan Thomas”.
Almost immediately the radio call came “Moon Dance, this is the Capt. Dan Thomas”. We replied and were asked to go to channel 12. We were a little spooked because a tug had never called us and maybe we did something wrong or there was something wrong with the boat that we couldn’t see.
“Moon Dance if you have an email or phone number you can give me, I took some good photos of your boat as you passed yesterday.”
I passed along my number and the person we later learned was the pilot of the boat sent us these photos.
Check out the comments on the previous post on this subject where the pilot said his maritime career started 15 years ago on his Dad’s Mainship.
Thanks very much to James J Edwards, pilot of the Capt. Dan Thomas.

Absolutely great photos of your boat and river run.
