Heading downstream from Chattanooga is very picturesque even without the full autumn splendour.

I have always wondered about the Hudson School of Painters. The few pictures I have seen always look like they lived in a house heated with wood or inhabited by heavy smokers. The colours are there but are almost muddy looking. I now suspect they are true representations that capture the gauzy affect caused by lots of moisture in the air or the great distance judging by what we have seen in the Tennessee Valley.
