Elvis has left the building

We are in Fulton Mississippi and its raining. So what to do? Well Tupelo is only 25 minutes away. What would we do there you might ask? Visit the birthplace of Elvis of course.

The home Elvis was born in sits on its original site and you can see the room in which he and his still born twin brother were born. You would have to have a wooden heart not to be moved by this tragedy.

Suspicious minds wonder about the historical accuracy of the building.

The first church Elvis sang in has been moved to the site but we didn’t have time to go inside. So no crying in the chapel for us.

In the spirit of authenticity a replica privy has been moved to the site. Not sure why.

There is a “meditative building on the grounds and while we were there a wedding was about to take place the bride looked quite nervous. What do they say about rain on your wedding day, something inspiring I am sure.

The gift shop did not disappoint. Just a few of the highlights below.

It was an afternoon well spent.

Pleased to meet a young Elvis

The resemblance is uncanny
