It’s a bit of a jolt that the loop goes from winding river straight into seaport. It’s a shock frankly. One minute you are on a quiet river…

The next thing you know you are in a 3,600 acre port facility that adjoins the Mobile downtown.

On the other side of the river are shipyards with Navy vessels being either built or having a refit.

As we go down the Mobile river channel we have to wait for a cargo ship to pass before we turn across the ship channel to head to our stop.

As we are crossing the bay we are greeted by dolphins that swim around the boat seemingly playing a game of chicken with us.
This morning there was frost on the bow, now we have a sandy beach and palms.

As I said a bit of a shock. we are in salt water now and can see the Gulf of Mexico. That’s a milestone for sure.
We are so jealous! But if all goes as planned, we’ll see dolphins in two days!!
