We had a great visit home. We got to spend time with the kids, visit with family and catch up with friends. I didn’t look at the weather more than once a week and tide tables never passed before my eyes. We cooked a lot of our favourite meals that are not suitable boat fare or are not “summer” meals. The bad news is the scale needle reversed direction. The good news is we will literally walk it off before the end of January.
We left this morning before sunrise; aiming for Cincinnati. We opted for our favourite border crossing at Ogdensberg where we were the only vehicle. We had a pleasant exchange with the officer explaining how Canadian citizens who are Ontario residents are going to Alabama in a car with Florida plates. All very cordial. I think I even heard him giggle once. I am guessing he Googled “Great Loop” as we pulled out.
A little further along, even Maggie was surprised at the lack of snow in Buffalo. It is hard to believe the thruway was closed last week because of a storm. But it is all gone now. Also, I think she just realized we have another two days in the car. If they were a little smaller, they could fly cabin. Oh well!

BTW we are not letting the dogs know how bad their last clip was. I think even when I do it on the boat there are fewer divots.
Our best wishes to everyone and hope that 2023 brings you joy and wonderful memories.
Safe driving on bare roads. What a treat!!! Hard to believe all that huge amount of snow Buffalo got is totally gone!! Thank goodness we still have snow on the ground here, which of course will turn to rock solid, or glare ice, when the cold front moves in later this week. What a disappointment this weather is for all my skiing grandchildren and family!!
Well, Linda, I certainly did miss the boat, so to speak, (sorry, I just couldn’t help myself!!) about seeing you over the holidays. I forgot how totally jam packed a “normal” Christmas month is!!! But it was wonderful to be with everyone again.
Hope your drive is smooth sailing, and that you find your boat intact and ready to go for you all.
Hugs, Brenda

Happy New Year to both of you. Safe travels back to your boat home. Hoping a stop at Burnt Store Marina works out…if not, we might just connect again in Buckhorn. 🛥

I have checked but there is no room there until March. Looking for another spot nearby.
