We made It!

We arrived in Orange Beach yesterday around one o’clock. We humped all of our belongings to the boat. It was only a matter of 100 feet or so. Not the marathon that boaters frequently experience when arriving at a marina. As you may recall, Moon Dance is tucked into a canal on a private dock. The owner Scott was out and about so we spent an hour or two putting things away. Don’t ask me how we fit so much stuff in a Ford Escort.

Then it was off to the grocery store. We had completely cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer before we left to minimize the electricity usage while we were gone. We thought it would be good idea to empty it completely in case there was a power failure. Also, we are getting quite a deal on the slip so figured the least we could do is shut it down. The fridge is far and away the biggest consumer of power on the boat.

There is a Publix’s a short drive away so we went there despite it being the chain we find the most expensive. We completely fill a large shopping cart – even the shelf underneath. While waiting in line, we guessed what the total would be. My guess of $435 was the closest as I was under by $5. We forgot horseradish which is surprising hard to find so we will have to go back.

Our Christmas presents were sitting in the hall at Scott’s place. We will open them tomorrow once we get settled in and can savour the process.
