After the howling winds and heavy rain over the last two days, this is the view out the window at 6:30 this morning. The wind had dropped by half-time in the Super Bowl last night and lasted all night. All the weather models agree that light winds will continue for the next 24 hours.
Why then am I laying in bed writing while the coffee brews? Shouldn’t we be making ready to sail? It is only 73 miles to the west coast of Florida. A day’s cruise before we can head south to Crystal River, Tarpon Springs, Tampa, Fort Myers, Naples and the Keys. The land where iguanas fall from the trees when it is this cold.
The problem is, or rather are, the residual waves generated during the storm. They are higher than we want to endure so we are staying here. We will ignore the pull of Até the Greek goddess of delusion and reckless impulse.
Leigh, Teresa and I plan to attend a writers workshop at the local library this afternoon.
Before I had a chance to post this, one of our buddy boats knocked. It was 8:30 and they had decided to go at 9:30. They travel faster than we do. That meant we would be arriving in the dusk. At a marina that is well up a narrow channel and the outer bay features miles of crab pots that will wrap around the propeller shaft of an unwary boat. Thanks, but no thanks.
and you may have to call the occasional “audible”…

Yes, there are often audibles. We call them Plan B.

No thanks, indeed! Hang in there, enjoy the writers workshop and where you are; the rest of Florida can wait. We’ll see you soon, I hope!

Yes wise decision. Watch out for crab pots near Tarpon Springs…other women boaters we met got prop wrapped and they limped into harbor for big repair. Boaters are wise. We have had howling winds and cold here over the weekend but lovely today…you have no exact calendar to keep so wait it out and go in safety. ❤️❤️❤️ happy Valentines Day

Simon and I went to Eastbourne on the coast for 2 nights and ha the best weather. We upgraded to room to a seaview and had the best sunrise and sunset with the the sun shining off the water all day as if it were a mirror. Lots of coast walks.

Glad you had a great weekend. Nothing beats sunshine on water. Unless it it is rain on water. Re posting: first one is held until approved. After that your comments are posted directly.
