A short overnight in Steinhatchee. We didn’t get more than 100 feet from the dock but my gosh were we tempted to stay. This weekend is a Fiddler Crab Festival. Twenty thousand people descend on this little town. We would be in the middle of it all to see the shenanigans.
However, we have be sitting still letting barnacles grow on our hull, so no questions asked we tossed the lines. We left at 7:30 with two other boats Blue N Sea and Simplify. Back out through Deadman’s Bay, turn to port (left) and 93 miles later we were in Crystal River.
I already love the place. Not sure why, but it is a quite different eco-system. Maybe because I added two birds to my life list in the first five minutes and it has manatees.

And almost unbelievable, we booked the last slip in the marinas here. We were the only boat out of five arriving today to score.
The view out our front window. Juniper and Venus align about once a year and we are here in this slip to enjoy it.

What a great shot of Venus and Jupiter, with the reflection on the water!! What were your two lifers??

We love Crystal River…except for hitting whatever we did outside the river! I hope you get to stay more than one day. We stayed three, anchored in Kings Bay. Glad the planets aligned for you! What two birds did you add to your list?

That sounds wonderful! I hope you will be in Crystal River for a couple of days. One of our friends had been posting photos from there for years. The manatees and all the birds are amazing. Enjoy paradise🥰

White Ibis and Kentucky Warbler. I am on the hunt for herons. Especially, the yellow-crowned night and tri-coloured.
