Our second night on the Okeechobee waterway was at the Labelle City Docks. These docks have water and power. Apparently a local resident donated the property and a sum of money to the town, if they allowed boaters to dock here for free. So here’s to their generosity.

The town itself is cute. The walk to the grocery store was along a street lined with live oaks. The trees were not as spectacular as those in Savannah but still created a cool corridor with lovely diffuse light.
We picked up a few groceries and John got a haircut. The barbershop was cash only. This raised another issue as bank machines that accept cards from different banks are few and far between. Perhaps this is why Americans tend to walk around with large amounts of cash when traveling.
We love travel days that are three to four hours long as it gives us time to explore (we found two geo-coaches), do a few chores and cook a nice meal.

Good to know. Labelle is a county or district as well as we see highway signs when we head to Fort Myers. It must be so great to experience something new each day and be surprised when something is free!
