Sarasota, FL

Short sail today. Back out to Tampa Bay for a few minutes, then turn the corner and re-join the ICW for a three-hour cruise. Sarasota is certainly not a desert isle like the SS Minnow encountered. Lots of eye candy as we circumnavigated the marina looking for our slip. John did a great job avoiding the bows and sterns of the beauties harboured here.

The stunning scenery continued on shore when I took the dogs for a walk. Just call me provincial but I have never seen so many Maserati in one place before. Four parked across from this roller and another being parked by the valet. There were two Rolls Royce, a Lamborghini, and a Bentley parked among the lesser vehicles like Audi, BMW, Tesla, and Mercedes. All here for lunch at the marina restaurant which otherwise looks typical.

Downtown Sarasota is lovely. Lots of cute shops and cafes. We hiked up to a Whole Foods to replenish the larder. We did note that Teslas and Range Rovers started to dominate. Also, Whole Foods only offers organic. Produce for sure, plus many of their other items are sustainable, grass feed etc. Not sure if this is true in Ottawa. I think we were the first people to pack our groceries into backpacks. They gave us a discount for two shopping bags and no ice.

We are enjoying cocktails while being serenaded by a violinist playing things like Hotel California – we may never leave.

Aaaah Lovey daahling which Rolls should we take to breakfast? I’m famished.

  1. Love Sarasota. We have eaten at a trader Jacks? I think that’s the marina restaurant? Make sure you get a photo with the huge nurse statue out at road…established after WW2. We took dinner boat cruise out of there years ago. Lots of $$$ in that community. Whole foods out by hwy we stop at coming down as a Tesla chargers are right behind it. Expensive spot to purchase food but it’s all good.
FYI: not sure when you are planning to get to BSM because the sound of music at your boat would tell me to stay as well. However there is farmers market here every Friday 9am-1:00pm. We have restaurant and a trading Post with food/ some supplies like beer and wine…what more do you need? We can also take you to grocery if needed. The marina has pool, showers, club house and I believe laundry at the Trading Post.
We are doing Beatles Tribute band here at Cass Cay restaurant tomorrow night…around Wednesday and Thursday, Friday. Off Saturday to Babcock Ranch sustainable community with EV support…so whenever you get here we will find time to connect so just enjoy. Trading Post here also have music outdoors Sunday mornings and a great breakfast pizza…lots to do here. Sunsets from our deck also works with wine toast to end another day in paradise. 🍷⚓️⚓️
