The wind picked up within an hour of landing at Georgetown Landing. We were moving so much we started looking for alternative. The marina would not let us move to any of the vacant slips that were more protected. None of the other local marinas had an empty slip.
The forecast suggests the wind will die down overnight before picking up to small craft warnings Saturday through Monday accompanied by rain.

We looked for marinas further north. We checked the satellite view for each of them on Google Maps. We were looking for a place protected from the northeast wind and off the channel. The most promising was Wacca Wache; where we were planning on buying fuel. They have the cheapest diesel in South Carolina $3.49 a gallon, I gave them a call to make sure they had a slip. They were closed so I had to leave a message and hope they returned my call first thing in the morning.
We were up early the next day. Breakfast over and power cords disconnected we waited hoping Wacca Wache could accommodate us. Plan B was to book a hotel room for a couple of days. John called the marina just after their posted opening time of 8 am. Not only were they open, they had a slip for us. We pulled away from the dock at 8:15; dodging the crab traps set in the fairway.

Not the best day to travel but well worth it. Wacca Wache is recognized as a hurricane hole. We arrived in the rain with a 20+ knot breeze but the trees were barely swaying by the fuel dock. We happily spent two nights. And, could really empathize with everyone “enjoying” the Masters.

Oh my goodness. Don’t blame you for moving and glad you were accommodated. We left Florida this Tuesday today 11th at 8am. Currently in hotel in Macon Georgia that does not rock. Winds high all day but sunny and roads clear with moving traffic. No jam ups. Hope to be home Friday. Will continue to read when I can en route but will catch up once home and settled. Safe journey⚓️⚓️⚓️

Safe travels to you too. The shenandoah valley is one of my favourite drives. So pretty.
