We first ran into Moon Pies in Chattanooga where there was a whole store devoted to selling them. We tried them because of their resemblance to the delicious Canadian confections called Joe Louis. They look the same but they tasted like sugar and dust. What a disappointment!
To tell the truth though, neither John or I have had a Joe Louis since we were teenagers when our tastebuds were likely more responsive to sugar dust. Or, before the accountants started fooling with the recipe.
We spotted Moon Pies again recently. Plus, you can not only buy a picture of them on a fridge magnet, but will buy a whole set of magnets. One for each phase of the moon. Each magnet is $4.95, about $2 more than the real thing. Maybe the magnets taste better.
