Mackinaw City

Mackinaw City is at the northern tip (headland) of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula along the southern shore of the Straits of Mackinac. The area is  affectionally referred to as the Tip o’ the Mitt.

The municipal marina is a welcome sight for boaters. I am sure this harbour of refuge is highly appreciated in stormy weather whether coming from Lake Huron or Lake Michigan.

The shopping district is located along Central Avenue close to the marina. Shops selling T-shirts, fudge, and toffee are numerous. A tiny grocery store is a hike up the avenue to the highway.
