The last canal, the last lock.
No tides, no current, only us and Lake Ontario. Sixty some odd miles and we will have completed the Great Loop. Years in the planning and a year in the doing. We have met wonderful people, seen some beautiful landscape, been challenged, educated, and have grown.
We are looking forward to crossing the lake on Saturday and heading to Loyalist cove in Bath. Moon Dance is due for some TLC. She will be hauled out, have her bottom painted, zincs replaced, and her hull waxed. She is too fine a lady to be travelling around with a brown ICW mustache.
Once she has finished her beauty treatment, we will head to Kingston and officially cross our wake where we began in 2019.

What a great trip! One thing I fear about “doing the loop” is where do you go from there. We just took the Hawks’ Nest about 150 miles up the river on a three-day up, three-day down trip and loved every minute of it.
Just curious, any idea about what comes next?

Glad you got out for a cruise. We will spend the summer on the Rideau Canal contemplating the possibilities. Florida, Bahamas and Europe are all in the running.
